I am very sensitive to medication and can't take SSRI's, so recently switched to Cymbalta (9 months ago). It works for my mental health symptoms but has a side effect of horrible sweating that begins with even slight exertions like emptying the dishwasher or brushing my teeth. I can't use a hair dryer without effectively having to rinse my whole body afterwards, and going out anywhere in the heat is downright embarrassing.

Has anyone here had a problem with sweating on Cymbalta? What helps? Is there another med in this class that doesn't make you sweat?

Ummm....Cymbalta IS a SSRI, last I looked. I take it, and have the same sweating problems you do. I've asked my doctor(s), they just say or, its probably menopause---nope, BTDT why do they always grin when they mention such, like its some sort of joke? i've even had them tell me to use extra-strength antiperspirant---I don't stink, I sweat, from everywhere but my armpits!

It could be the Cymbalta, but, I've had that problem since before I took Cymbalta. Its truly miserable. I drip sweat from my neck area, I have my hair cut short in a pixie and it often looks like I just washed my hair!

If you find a solution let me know Meanwhile, guard against dehydration. You're losing tons of water via your skin, try to drink about 10-12 glasses of water/day

Cymbalta is an SNRI. Better for my condition, but known for truly frightening discontinuation syndrome that is minimized/not fully disclosed by the drug companies.

I have always sweated easily, too, so I feel for you. Those of us who do are likely to see the problem compounded by Cymbalta. I hear from others who have stopped taking the drug that it may be a permanent increase. Nice.

The part that bothers me most is sweating in the crotch area. It's just plain gross. Of course my doctor suggested peri-menopause as a possible reason for the intensity of the whole problem, but the timing of the onset coincided directly with the end of my first week on the drug. Though Jeez, if this is what menopause will be like for me, I may not leave my house for ten years!

Send me one too! I have the same problem, not sure if it is menopause, SSRIs or both.
