When you've got a government who, for the most part, treats cannabis use as harshly as heroin or meth use....why not? When those who are looking for something to "self-medicate" with, have to choose the drug that's accessible and affordable AND they're hopeless....? ....well, you have a recipe for disaster.
Heroin was strongly around in the early 70's. And from there on. Remember all the musicians who hit low times during that period.
I agree but it wasn't in small town America. Many of the users came home from Vietnam with a heroin addiction. As far as musicians many of my 70s faves has heroin issues-Lou Reed,Allman Bros,Rolling Stones. I mean Annie Liebovitz went on tour with them to take pics for Rolling Stone magazine.and became a heroin addict herself.Even a pop performer like Natalie Cole was using H in the 70s!
