I was just prescribed today Celexa for anxiety and minor depression. I had been taking 15mg BuSpar for about 3 weeks and it has heolped with my anxiety, but I have barely eaten anything the past week and have veru bad nausea and all food looks gross and can't eat. The Dr. today told me that I can't put my health at risk with not eating so he gave me Celexa, which I will start tonight. He gave me 10mg, then told me in about a week to take 2 at a time (20mg). Has anyone taken Celexa before ? How did you like it? any side effects?
I tried it for about a week,then switched to Paxil,which to me seemed better for Anxiety. Celexa may work fine for you tho...its a wait and see type of thing with ADs.

Keep in mind that the benefits/negatives of all these drugs are different from person to person. What works for one may not work for another. Also bear in mind that the side effects generally hit hard and fast in the beginning and then taper off as time goes on, and they say that it can take 3-8 weeks for the drug to really start to make a noticeable difference.
Celexa was the last antidepressant I was on. My p-doc had coupled it with Concerta, which is an ADD drug. Combined with some lifestyle changes and some good therapy work, this Celexa/Concerta combo worked great for me and helped me turn the corner in my depression. I was able to get off the drugs after about 8 months. That was over 7 years ago, and I've been med-free ever since.

I am on the genric called Citalopram and I am noticing that I am not as hungry. Right now I am usually ready to eat lunch but I have no desire. I did eat breakfast this morning and I had some grapes before. One of the side effects is loss of appetite, which in my case is good because I am also doing WW. I do eat but not as much since I went back on it 2 weeks ago. I was off it for a year because I felt great then I started having mild anxiety again so I went back on it.I don't have any of the other side effects that go along with this.
Drug therapy should only be done if you meet the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and drug therapy for mental disorders should only be done with a fully licensed and experienced doctor in that specific area. Why? Millions are now on mental disorder drugs without the safety of a diagnosis and management.
I'm on concerta 54mg take them to chill like to feel focus but when my anxiety kicks in cuz of the crash I take Citalopram 10mg and I'm fine again
