I started taking Celexa yesterday for my anxiety, but I had a strange reaction on the first day. My anxiety left right away, however at the first 4 hours of taking it I felt kinda strange and out of body almost. But than after that I got this sensation like I WAS ABLE TO DO ANYTHING, It was really strange, I literately felt like I could go out and talk to any girl and date any of them, I felt to high up I found. I even stayed up like until 3am, it was so strange, I was over the top happy and not anxious at all. The bad part that is scaring me is that it takes me forever to ejaculate now on the first day, but maybe its in my head because porn seems to make me ejaculate pretty normally still. Today is the second day on the meds and I feel a little more even out, I feel more relaxed, but still had to take a long time to ejaculate again today, until I watched porn and ejaculated at a normal rate.

Whats going on?

Psyc wants to keep me on 5mg because I am sensitive to meds.

Is it your first time taking an anti depressant? I had the same thing happen when I tried both buproprion (Wellbutrin) and citalopram (celexa). It felt like I was on ecstasy and thought that was going to be a feeling that would continue. It doesn't. I specifically remember taking it on the train home from work and started feeling that feeling within 10 minutes it was that fast. (empty stomach and I was also fiending to get out of my head because I was sober for 6 months.

Take this for what it's worth... Before starting antidepressants I had a very very strong libido. It was killed on antidepressants, but even after stopping them it never came back to what it was before. I am not necessarily blaming the meds, but that's what happened to me.

Same here. It felt like being on ecstasy the first time I took wellbutrin (buprproprion) and celexa (citaopram). Wait..

Well, LOL. I was just responding and realizing I responded to this already and responding to a response of my own.

I have a Celexa question: I have cycled through most of the SSRIs, and while they make my MIND feel better, they make my BODY sluggish and tired, and I stop taking them. I most recently tried taking them again about a month ago, and only lasted a week - I slept so hard it felt like someone super glued my legs and back to the bed! Would I likely see fewer side effects with a lower dose? Like I was taking 20mg, what about 10mg?

The only other antidepressant i've been on is wellbutrin, but currently back on celexa 20 mg and it has helped me I feel after the loss of a family member. It can set off mania so be careful if you're prone to that. You might not even know you are until you're on it as well. Me personally I would never take anything more than an antidepressant for anything affecting the mind. To answer your question though, it gives me insomnia but I drink a **** ton of coffee from morning to night.

This is the second thing I've read tonight about people having experiences with Celexa like this. I was on the stuff for almost two years, at 40 mg once daily. It took two weeks before I even felt anything when I started on it. I went off it about 6 months ago. Slowly tapered off. And my new doctor put me on Atavan, for the anxiety. Celexa didn't do a thing for it. I'm not depressed, I'm overly sensitive to certain things, and that has triggers.

Hmmm, I never new Celexa was supposed to have any immediate effects.
