Hi, I'm looking for any information that my daughter-in-law heard about in Nampa, Idaho where the testing takes 6 to 8 hours to complete she says. She doesn't have the information anymore and would like to get her daughter tested. Her daughter at a very young age was diagnosed but believes incorrectly and I have to agree. We all think she is a high functioning Autism child. Thanks

You might find more information in the Idaho forum of City Data where people or members more local knowledge for the answer/s you need. However here’s two links that might offer some help in the meantime.

If she's a school age child her mom can request the public school district to test her for any suspected or potential disability. Public schools are required to do so under IDEA - federal law. Let me know here or by DM if you have questions or need help with next steps.

There is no longer any distinction like Aspbergers vs Autism. It's all called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Not sure what you think testing will do.

Just don't let the label get you down, there's nothing wrong with being Autistic. Quite a positive thing, actually.

Just a cautionary tale:
My friend's daughter was diagnosed as autistic at a young age, but her parents didn't believe it either. She could not add numbers at all, count money, or cross the street safely. But they had her retested because they didn't want the stigma of their child being labeled as "autistic".

She was confirmed as being mildly autistic. But IQ's generally improve with age (this is the case with everyone) and on this second evaluation her IQ came out 2 points over the level to be able to receive Social Security benefits. Boy, were they sorry they had her retested! Testing is not always reliable, except to Social Security Disability, which would not change their mind even on appeal.
