Often times I ask myself what's the point of this thing we call life..... you work hard so your boss can become a millionaire. All the money I make end up going to everyone else for rent, car payments, etc. People around me are sooooo annoying and they are all selfish egomaniacs.

I often day dream about doing what Christopher McCandless did..... just drop everything and head to Alaska to die. Except I want to head to hottest place on Earth, Death Valley, and go on a long hike..... and hopefully never make it out. I feel like this outcome would be more satisfactory than my current situation.

So is this normal or am I suffering from mental imbalance?

Probably normal mangoarrow. We all have moments of despair (I think), and you're not alone when you dream of something better. I do believe though that if you can get through it without taking your life, there's a lot of good that life can offer.
Sounds to me like you might need a change....maybe a new job, a new place, or just some time to reflect on what you really hope to get out of life.
There's alot of real good people out there...don't loose hope.
Your life is something precious...if you don't want to live it for yourself, live it for others, people who really need help.
Albert Einstein said
" A life not lived for others is a life not worth living",. I think that he meant that it is sooo easy to show compassion, and kindness towards others and it doesn't cost anything but the reward is huge..and it makes you glad to be alive.....take care
