Brucellosis Disease (depression, MRI, dementia, sleep)

For those of you that don't know what Brucellosis is, it a disease that cattle get. They are tested for it by blood samples run in a lab. People can get it from direct exposure or from drinking raw unpasteurized milk. Anyway, my husband has all the symptoms of the disease which include depression, anxiety, bone pain just to name a few. I posted here because depression is a main symptom. He ran blood samples for that for 27 years. The CDC center for disease control has the symptoms of the disease in humans and my husband has all of them. My question is does anyone know of anybody that has this same disease ? I know this is a stretch because it is not a very common disease in humans. Any input ?

Hello, I had brucellosis 15 months ago August 2012, im a 36 yr. old female, and got it from unpasteurized goat cheese from an international store in Michigan. I had severe stiffness in my neck with a throbbing headache and fever. I was in the hospital for 7 days, they did mri, cat scan, spinal tap and other lovely tests. After my fever broke I went home, still feeling weak and still had fevers the next week. I was prescribed 6 weeks of doxycycline, sulfametho xazole and one other antibiotic that started with a T something. Since having brucellosis they wanted to continue tests on me in California cause I moved here shortly after brucellosis, but I dont have time to be a lab test canidate. I had joint pain weight lost, trouble sleepings, loss of hair, exhaustion more, sweating, some depression and the feeling I will never feel 100% as I once did. I wish you and your husband the best because thats a tough experience to go through.

Wow, that describes him to a T all the symptoms you have, he has. He goes for the test Monday. I KNOW he has Brucellosis. 27 years in a lab testing for that and drawing blood from cattle in the field. Yes. I am so sorry you have this. Ron has felt so bad for so many years and then all of a sudden I thought of this disease. He has had this I'm sure for about 44 years because that's how long we have been married and he was doing that when we married. Good Luck to you. I wonder how many people are out there with this. Now that you said you got it from eating unpasteurized goat cheese maybe that will start people thinking about their symptoms that they can't quite put their finger on. God Bless You.

Did you notice any personality changes in yourself with this disease ? My husband's personality is changing and not for the better. He is 66. Sort of acts like he has dementia. Haven't had this checked out yet. One thing at a time. But if he DOES have Brucellosis then there is an explanation for things going on in him.

Ron's blood test was done today but the doc said it takes 28 days to culture the blood to see if it is pos or neg. Did this disease cause you to have restless leg syndrome ?

I got this disease at 1997 , the doctors diagnoses me after 2 months ( i couldn't walk at that time because the bacteria destroy my joints ) then I tock the treatment and now I am normal person ,
Now I have some problems ( my be related to brusseloss or not ???)
I make mistake with names and I dont reyalize my mistake (ex, I want to say I like burger but I say i like petza )
Back pain , not exited , but alwayes happy , my wife told me she couldn't know how I think , my joints so weeks.I don't like to speake but I like to think a lot . But the major problem is the names of persons and things , the people thinks I take drugs hhhhhhh , cause I speake slow and make mistakes with names , I sleep like a baby ( so fast )
