CDHP or HMO for people with depression (MRI, psychiatrist, medication)

Hello:

In my previous job I used to have a PPO insurance (BCBS) with very good coverage (I only paid $30 dollars per visit with my psychiatrist and medication out of pocket cost were pretty decent even before meeting the deductible).

Now I switched jobs and my new company does not offer this type of insurance.

They have either CDHP or HAP(HMO).

The anual deductible for the CDHP is $1,300 and after reaching that amount the coinsurance is 90%.

The HAP(HMO) has no deductibles and I only pay $20 for office visits (includying specialists) and for medications these are the costs (one month supply):

$10 for generic
$20 preferred
$30 brand name

I checked with both my PCP (primary care physician) and psychiatrist (which I have been seeing for more than 4 years) and they both accept HAP (HMO).

Would HAP be a better choice given my particular situation? That's what I would think but wanted to hear some opinions.

I am currently being treated for depression / anxiety and take 3 medications which I will have to take long term.

Also I am actively engaged in different sports so sometimes I get injuried and need to go to see my PCP which usually orders x-rays, MRI's or sends me to physical therapy.

If your psychiatrist accepts the hmo go with it. I had a bad experience with an hmo but If what youre doing is working stick with it it'll just be someone else paying them

That's what I did.

I chose HAP.
