I am 34 and have a long history of mental illness. I have had many tics over the years that come and go. However for the last four years I have constantly been clearing my throat. I do it more in stressful situations. I'm currently on anafrinal and Paxil but it has not helped. I can control it in some situations but do it enough where it is interfering in my life. Does anyone else suffer from this? Any suggestions for treatments?

My son has it. He is 10. He doesn't seem to care, and we don't talk about it. The teachers are instructed to not talk about it and correct kids of they bring it up. I think why my son seems not to care is he isn't self conscious about it (yet). But maybe that is the answer. To let go of caring or thinking about it?

It's my best guess. Sorry you are dealing with it.

I knew someone who got Botox injections for her vocal spasms, which was the only thing that worked for her.

I did hear of that. My son is too young. But totally worth looking into.
