I'm twenty-nine years old. I...need help.

I have issues dealing with stress and anxiety, especially at work. My job isn't particularly stressful, but I frequently worry about making too many mistakes or one huge mistake and getting fired. Whenever I do make a mistake I worry and stress over it for days or even weeks before the anxiety fades away. It's crippling. I don't sleep well most nights. I don't really have any other hobbies outside work, so I often go in to the office on the weekend to catch upon work. It's sometimes easier to get things done since it's quieter than regular office hours.

I also think I might have a minor case of OCD. I have told myself every day for months "I hope I don't get fired" before work. It seems like if I forget to do that something bad happens. I find out I made some error or something happens at work. I try not to change too much about my daily routine, even down to little things like what I do every morning and how I go to my car and how I come home. I'm just scared of the smallest change.

I just wish I could stop stressing out so much about things. I'm so afraid of everything -- things I don't know, things I do know, what I can help, what I can't -- that I feel paralyzed sometimes. I wish I could let go and just be free. But I'm scared if I do the whole world will fall out from under me.

Please help.

Have you heard of mindfulness based stress reduction?

to the original poster, you do seem very self aware. It also sounds like you really dont have people to share your concerns with. Maybe a group like the mindfulness might be a good start,
I am considering something like that. Mine is not really stress related, but I guess it all comes together and there are times when we know we are not operating as we should .
