When I have panic attacks, they usually happen at night after 9:00. I have been in therapy over 25 years - psychotherapy and medication. I get these racing thoughts that I'm going to lose control and do something terrible. A few minutes ago, it was cannibalism. I'm feeling better at the moment because I'm on the Internet and thus distracted. Do you ever have racing thoughts and panic attacks at night?

Hi, MOS.

I have anxiety issues myself, but not life that. Does it help to write? Could you distract yourself writing a story about the story, or do you need to escape where you're at and walk/drive somewhere?

Sending good thoughts your way and going you get to and through, sleep tonight.

I play chess to ease my mind whenever I'm having racing thoughts. Look around for an interesting hobby that will preoccupy your mind.

Not at night but mostly in public places thus the losing control...When my son was born I was 22 and remember being afraid I was not going to feed him...just ignore him...WELL that never happened..in fact NOTHING I ever worried about EVER happened...I have tortured myself for years for nothing and still do on occasion but the older I get I so regret doing that and wonder WHY?

What do you mean
cannibalism??

Just wondering what medications/dose you are on?

I just got out of hospital for OCD/Anxiety episode so I feel you, night time is the worst for me when I am bad.

Sometimes, what we eat before bed can have an effect on our anxiety so that might be something to watch for.
