I feel like I am just floating along in life. Like most of my life I just go a long with what I am told. Not really taking control of my life. Other people go out and get what they want and work hard at it, where I just half ass try. Anyone have this similar problem?

I think most people feel that way at times especially as you get older. When you're 19 everything feels new and fresh, when you're 30 and older you've seen it all before. I'd guess most people that ever lived wanted to achieve more than they did but they got boxed in and had to do the best they could.

Yeah, I'm not very ambitious about most things. I have accomplished a few of my goals, but they just weren't that hard for me to accomplish. Anything that's hard, I generally give up on.
I am that way at times. I seesaw between demanding total control, then I hit a wall and just give in and float along. Typically this happens with a big life event or depression, or both, sets in.
Taking control takes great energy especially if you have to change the dynamics of how the people around you are influencing your life. It can be nearly impossible for an introvert low energy nonconfrontational person like me.
In a floating period now, but need to find the energy to get with it for some critical issues.
You might just be one of those people who shoot an arrow and as long as it hits the side of a barn(easy) your happy.
So the question isn't "am I just floating along?" But rather "am I happy?"
I'm an underachiever, I took a safe job , I make good money, but I too at times feel like I'm floating down the stream. That's when it's trims to re evaluate our lives and what we want to do. For me, I went on a mission/humanitarian trip to one of the poorest places in the Western Hemisphere. Totally changed my focus and outlook. For me I like knowing that I can help people outside of my day to day job.
I'm rambling now, but I think you get the point?
