Some may notice many of my posts are created in the middle of the night, its due to the fact i cant sleep because of frequent nightmares that usually have me trapped in a confined space,as some one with claustrophobia this can be terrifying. I've been having this condition 2-3 times a week for 10 years now and its getting to the point i dont want to go to sleep, Any one have any experience with nightmares?
101,
Hi.. Have u had comprehensive blood testing done (?) I think vitamin deficiencies (which can be pretty easily fixed) can induce anxieties & sleep issues..
Insomnia & nightmares are no joke. Praying for you. Peace.
Are these nightmares related to sleep paralysis? If so, that can be a symptom of a narcoleptic brain, even if you do not have full-fledged narcolepsy. Sleep paralysis can be quite terrifying and can cause the symptomology that you describe. If your nightmares are related to sleep paralysis, then a trip to the sleep specialist physician is your next best move.
In fact, suffering from this behavioral pattern as you say you have been for a decade that clearly means its time to seek expert assistance beyond what an internet message board can provide. Disrupted sleep like you state you are experiencing can truly be adversarial to an every day quality of life, so again, pretty important to get professional help.
Even if your nightmares aren't related to sleep paralysis, since this has been an ongoing sleep problem for you for quite some time, one of the appointments you need to schedule right now is with a sleep specialist physician. If that physician would require a referral, get one from your primary doc. Secondly, I would strongly suggest you schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist. Getting psychiatric help may be just what you need to help work towards a solution to your problem; there can be behavioral improvements you can make...there can also be potential pharmaceutical approaches that could help a great deal.
Don't suffer another year longer. Get with a sleep specialist and a psychiatrist and get the medical expertise that can go a long way towards helping alleviate this problem.

I had violent nightmares when pregnant. In my case they were driven by hormones.
I also notice my 'entertainment' influences my dreams. It's why I don't watch R rated action movies or read horror. As a result I'm sensitive to various triggers and I prefer to read a good book than watch TV. So. You might think of all that when you keep having nightmares. Something is setting you off.
