The full title:Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence

As the parent of a pot smoking young adult struggling with mental health issues, this book was just brought to my attention.

Just reading excerpts and reviews amazes me & makes me want to read it.

I was wondering if anyone here has read it.

In a couple of reviews, one lady cited her high achieving son who excelled throughout his education, then began using and came apart mentally. Another simply said she frequently sees her HS class Valedictorian, who began using, at his job pumping gas.

I wonder if those suffering from mental illness stopped for, say, a year or even a few months, how it would affect them.

So the research and proof are in the book. I'm not trying to argue, just asking if anyone has read the book and if anyone who suffers from mental illness and uses has considered going off of it for a significant period of time.

Just sounds like a scare tactic. Anyone can hand select a few stories to support their viewpoints. That doesn’t prove cause and effect or any stastical proof. There a a lot of successful people who smoke.

I'm looking forward to reading it. What if there is statistical proof?

Don't forget that correlation is not causation. I'm not here to defend marijuana; I hate the stuff. But age 19 is about when people get mentally ill, regardless of substance use.

And things might exacerbate it.

Proof of what? The “proof”would only apply to some people and likely is flawed by just trying to show a corlation and not causation.

I can't argue your point. I haven't read the book.

I give one of my dogs CBD and it works okay.

The other is back on prescription/Metacam.

No THC. Most users are in it for the buzz.

The medicinal properties of CBD can't be disputed.
