I'm in the process of quiting caffeinated coffee, again, and it's remarkable how strong an influence it had on me -- quiting has induced headaches and it sometimes feels like my body's plasma has turned to glue. A substance this powerful certainly is not a good thing for anybody. This will be perhaps the tenth time I've given up caffeine, and hopefully the last.

See, that's the problem... quiting.

If I quit coffee, my whole back and my liver and all the way down my legs burn for about 3 weeks. Then it goes away!

But I've never beat my wife or wrecked my car due to coffee. I just quit chewing tobacco (Cope!). Get. Off. My. Back.

sometimes i'll nibble on a no-doz if i drank the night before or stayed up late. i don't drink coffee and the box says that 1 no-doz tablet is equal to 1 cup of coffee. i'll bite like 1/5 of the pill off and just eat that...that's enough to get me going! i have no idea what coffee would be like. if you drink like, say at least 5 or 6 cups of water during work, you won't feel any ill effects from the caffeine because you detoxing your body constantly by flushing it out with wonderful ole H2O. that's my only advice, if you are going to do caffeine, make sure you drink TONS of water with it and throughout the day.

I think if I quit eating fruits and vegetables too my body would have a strong reaction. Just because it is hard to quit doesn't mean it is bad for you.

I don't think it's healthy to quit. Why would you want to put yourself through that?

Or try Green Tea to taper down for starters then about a week after switch to Decaf Green Tea and that should help in the transition as i know personally as i was a die hard coffee drinker back in the 80's/90's as i thought it helped in Pumping Iron and Green Tea saved me from Coffee .

Coffee and Caffiene are not bad for you; it is the abuse of said substances that is bad for you.

at least caffeine does not effect your judgement (such as alcohol for example) so the above poster is 100% correct. it can be a useful tool if used properly aka moderation is key.

I know if I don't get my coffee. In about four hours I get a splitting headache and I feel "foggy" until I get a cup. I know because one time I had to have a physical and couldn't have my morning cup. After it was done the nurse felt bad and got me a cup and with in a few minutes, the withdrawal symptoms went away. It's a terrible affliction.
