I'm 30 and my mental age is about 12. Everybody else picks up normal facts of life quicker than I do. Is something wrong with my brain?

Don't worry about it.
By the time you are 60, you will be as smart as a 24 year old.
And everyone will envy you because of your fresh, young ideas.

That's probably because you are only as smart as a 12 year old.
But don't worry, you'll catch up.
Remember how worried you were that your pubic hair was never going to grow?

Everybody is different. Keep working on it and you will learn more as time goes along. If you know what is important to you. That is enough.

Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

How do you know this? Have you been tested? Give some examples of what you mean.

How is everybody different?

Clearly there is some kind of medical condition at play.

You can get an IQ test from many psychologists but it will cost you. Maybe take a course at a community college to use their student testing services for much less money. Alternatively, any university with a doctoral program in psychology has a student-run assessment clinic that is quite cheap. Call around!
