Yes -- but I never liked the tourist towns too much. I've enjoyed traveling in Mexico -- but it's not like my own country where you can just pack up a car and go camping or hiking alone or drive through the night. It's a bit the reverse of the USA -- in Mexico you're safer if you're in the center of town -- you have to be careful of the outskirts of towns and rural areas -- obviously not all places are bad but outsiders don't know the ropes.

In the USA, it's certain parts of the city that hold more danger -- most outskirts of towns and rural areas are pretty safe.

in Mexico, the "estados" are divided in "municipios"..is something similar to "counties"

big cities like Monterrey or Guadalajara are composed of one or more "municipios", as the city area is growing...

Monterrey metro area is composed of 5 or 6 municipios, with municipio of "monterrey" as the central one.
