I went to school at UdeM for 5 months in spring '05. The sunrise is beautiful coming up over the mountains! Thank you for a picture that brings back some of the best memories of my life!

Just to add a little more.... I lived in the "municipio" Santa Catarina. After the people in the neighborhood got used to seeing us around, they were friendly and wonderful. The local stores and taquerias are also fantastic! I found all levels of English/Spanish, but would have definitely felt uncomfortable with no Spanish skills. To hear of the violence that is now taking place makes me very sad, but I am confident I will visit this city again soon. While I lived there, I never actually felt unsafe, and actually went places, in taxis/buses/walking, by myself many times. However, at night we always went out in groups. After living there for 5 months I hold Monterrey and los nortenos very dear in my heart!

Monterrey is great place to visit, there are a lot of american companies are doing business there and I'm sure you will run into a lot of Americans too.
Mexico does not have counties, they are called Municipios (municipalities) and Monterrey's main municipalities areSanta Catarina, San Pedro Garza García, San Nicolás de los Garza, Guadalupe, General Escobedo, and Apodaca (this last one is where the airport is located)

I was and still am shocked at the amount of racism I see here.
