The difference between colonising and conquering:

Colonising means you create a new Political institution that mirrors yours in a faraway land, and you replace the people in that land with your people...

Conquering on the other hand is imposing your culture and your tradition and language onto people that are not Like you....

The Spanish historians agree that they colonised Rio de la plata (Modern Argentina and Uruguay) and New Grenada (Modern Colombia and Venezuela)...

On the other hand a specify that they conquered Peru and Mexico. Coincidentally Peru and Mexico have the Strongest Native American Cultural and genetic heritage out of the most important Spanish speaking countries.

That that does not stop Mexicans from going on YouTube and online and being racist against the The Peruvians and the Guatemalans calling them Indians , as if Mexicans were oblivious that they are Also Generally quite indigenous Looking.

I blame classicism in Mexico and their national media shoving white People down their throats.

This is why they attack me here and take offence to my comments.

Nahuatl Words in Mexican Spanish Vocabulary
I've never understood this belief, that Mexican Spanish is "very" different from the Spanish of Spain. Mainly, the difference is in Nahuatl terms for New World crops, which is to be expected. That doesn't make it a "very different" language. IDK about Mexico, but in Guatemala, they don't call the dominant language "Spanish" that often, they call it "Castillian", which would indicate it's no different than the language spoken in Spain (which isn't entirely accurate, either).

Anyway, yes, Nahuatl words made it into Spanish, and also into English. Are American English and Australian English "very different" from British English? Um.... well, define "very".

Man you have no idea.

Mexico before being Mexico was called New Spain.

Yes, the Spaniards conquered and then colonized the country, thousands of Spaniards settled in Mexico creating cities from Chiapas to Utah, in the same way that the English did in the United States.

The only difference is that the Spaniards, being Catholics, forgave the lives of the natives while the British committed genocide against the indigenous peoples of the United States.

Because is not, if you speak spanish you can understand a conversation with someone in the same room from Spain, Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela for example.

Well, it's more than just crop names. Heck, there's a lot more English in Mexican Spanish, for example, "Tengo que parquear mi troca." And yes, expressions, idioms, etc. make it more difficult to navigate.

https://www.fluentu.com/blog/spanish...rican-spanish/

I step in it all.the.time. The word "torta" means sandwich in Mexico, cake in Venezuela, and apparently patty in Costa Rica. "Chaqueta" is either jacket or a reference to masturbation. "Cuchara" is either spoon or vulva.

Lord help me, having to learn all of these the hard way.

I am not, though I am fluent enough to be mistaken for a native speaker. But my Venezuelan husband and MIL have been confused and have stepped in it, too, so it's not just a second-language thing.

Most Guatemalans definitely do call it Spanish more often.

i think they should just speak english. Makes it easier for me. THe verb conjugations are too much. Even in spain, the catalans are rebelling about the language.
