Hi,

My wife and I will be heading to Secrets Akumal for 7 days starting 2/18. I'd appreciate any day trip recommendations. Also would appreciate any tips/suggestions during our stay at this beautiful resort

thanks

I'd start with the Akumal beach where you can snorkel and see the turtles feeding at the bottom of the sea, it's pretty cool.

You can go to Tulum, great archeological site with a stunning view of the ocean, and the town has been growing and getting better options for eating and spending a bit of time there.

Playa del Carmen is close by and it has a nice pedestrian street (Quinta Avenida) with stores and great restaurants. From there you can take the ferry to Isla Mujeres, lovely little Island you can bike in little time and see nice scenery.

Minor correction, the ferry from PDC takes you to Cozumel. The Isla Mujeres ferry is in Cancun. This brings up another attraction which is very nice, Cozumel which is a destination all it's own with great snorkling and scuba. It's the 2nd largest coral reef, 2nd only to the great barrier reef off the coast of Australia.
