i was reading through the thread on laxness in mexican society and one forum member mentioned that mexico is very laidback in terms of law enforcement and some people are indifferent to petty crimes.
so, how does mexico treat its illegal immigrants? are they lax as usual towards illegal immigrants?
does no one care if people enter illegally just as long as the foreign entrants are respectful and dont commit any crimes or does the mexican government pursue them relentlessly?

Ironically enough they barely treat illegal immigrants as human beings. They beat them and imprison them for insane amounts of time, ignore crimes committed against them, etc and they also have a "militarized border" with Guatemala. Ive also heard that it's very difficult to become a naturalized Mexican citizen unless you marry one. Non citizens also can't own land as well.
But yet they do nothing but criticize us for our do nothing approach that pales in comparison to their actions. We treat the illegals here better then we do our citizens but yet Mexico does nothing but whine about our "militarized border" and "racist actions"
In many instances yes, we do treat them better than our own poor. An American cannot use the ER without some type of reprisal if they don't pay. At the very least their credit will take a hit as they will have collections chasing them down. An Illegal Immigrant has no worry of this.
In many other cases an Illegal will get looked over by Police as they know they will get a fake name so it is useless to give them a ticket. An American would be forced to show ID. Unless the BP is present the Illegal will be released to NOT show to a hearing for the infraction.
Anyway, back on topic,
It appears Mexico is extremely hard on those attempting to enter the Southern border Illegally.

I believe they're harder than the U.S. because Mexico is still in process of becoming a developed nation, they already have their poor to deal with they simply don't want more poor in the country.
Anyway, it's easy to become a citizen if you're an actor or sports players from central or south america.

I was once in a Mexican Jail, not convicted but went to visit a person that was there, they aren't 5 star hotels (unless you are wealthy) and they have many problems, everything costs money there, if you want a decent spot to sleep you have to pay, if you want to be left alone by other inmates, you have to pay, etc, I've never been to an American Jail though, but I doubt there is much difference, maybe the conditions are slightly better, but I honestly doubt that they change that much, a prison is a prison after all. And Mexico's not Africa, nope, not even India, much less China, not Spain but Spain and it's judicial system is closer to us.
The truth is that I wouldn't change Mexico for anything, but if I had to choose another country It'd be Brazil or Spain, perhaps Chile but never the USA
