Hi all,

So here's the scenario. Moving out of the midwest, and so far Miami is at the top of the list (have visited many times). Have done extensive searching on the 'net, but kind of interested in some input from the locals. Here's our situation:

Young married couple (both 29)
Budget: would like to keep it under about $4k/month for rent, at least initially, as we'll be chewin' on 3-4k/month student loans for the next 5+ years
Walkability of neighborhood hugely important (walkable to beach a huge plus also)
Enjoy culture, night life, good dining
Have 4 pets- 2 cats, 20lb dog, and 40lb dog (hopefully not too much of a deal breaker)

Is a one bedroom condo in South Beach that allows four pets, has a half decent view, and solid amenities a stretch for $4k/month? Any other areas worth considering?

Certainly doable. I'd also recommend Coconut Grove and Brickell, though not walkable to the beach (not far though).

Everything on your list will be easily found in South Beach, the only problem may be the animals. The 40lb dog will probably be the biggest issue you will find when renting. Key Biscayne, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Surfside, and Miami Beach as a whole may be good to look into.
