Hi all,

I am planning to stay in Miami Beach just for two days by myself to escape from stressing days here in New York.

I'm a 22 year-old female and thinking to spend these two days mostly on a beach.

I wasn't worried that much since it's just two days, but some of my friends scared me a lot, so here's my question: Which is safer/better for someone like me, South beach or North?

Thank you for taking your time

Both are pretty safe. In either case you don't want to be wandering down dark empty roads or alleys at night, but you'll be quite safe overall.

You will have more to do and see in South Beach.

Both are pretty safe. Just like any big city you need to use common since, like not walking alone down a dark street or on the beach alone at night, don't wear flashy jewelry, etc... Stay in South Beach 20th street south and you will be in walking distance to everything.

There have been reports of people slipping drugs into drinks. I am sure it's not common by any means, and you seem like a cautious person, but please be aware of it if anyone offers you a free drink.

Anything on the water or close to it is safe. All of Miami Beach is very safe compared to other parts of the city. Miami Beach is one of the safest areas in the city. Its busy all the time 24/7, lots of police etc.. Just use common sense and you will be absolutley fine.

With its what 8-10 murders a year? For a city thats the hub of nightlife of a metro of 5 million and home to tens of millions of visitors a year sounds pretty safe to me. The numbers are not very accurate since the population of Miami Beach is pretty low but there are always a large number of visitors and also always a large number of people from around the area inside the city.
Dont worry Miami Beach is very safe.
