Ditto to that. When you're on a train in NY and it for whatever reasons stops suddenly it's always much creepier being underground in the dark tunnels than having light coming through the windows of the car and you actually being able to see outside.

I like EL's and subways, I just like trains in general especially heavy rail. But the views you get from elevated trains is definitely better than being underground.

Since we ain't talking about money expenses, I want to add that elevated trains are visible and subways are not. The only times you see them are when looking at a map or actually going down there to ride it.

You are able to see urban progress from ground level, your window's car or house, or anywhere. With the other one, you just make yourself an idea that they exist underground.

^ Yeah, elevated trains seem to make neighborhoods more vibrant IMO. Some people complain about the noise, but I just think it's one of those things that adds to the city life.

Part of the joy(?) of exploring MIA on the Metrorail is the view, not so much the destination. Going south from downtown you will see lush vegestation, nice skylines, flowering tropical fruit trees, brightly colored homes, traffic on US 1...it is a nice ride. Comming back to downtown is beautiful by seeing the Brickell skyline, I think the ride in itself could be a tourist attraction.
