We are two young women who wants to get out of boring NJ and live somewhere that will allow us to enjoy our youth. We are hardworkers I, myself have a finanical background and my sister has an Adminstrative background. We are looking to save at least 30,000 for start up money to just rent a 2bed,2bath apt in a nice area. Is this possible? Is 30k good start up money until we are able to find a job? Is Miami a safe place for young women to come to for enjoyment and a new lifestyle and what concerns should we have? and what towns has reasonable apt pricing? Thanks Ahead!

Miami is a fun place for single young people. 30k is a good cushion to come down with if you don't have jobs lined up. I would suggest finding a place that you can get a 6 month lease instead of year lease just incase things don't work out. As far as reasonable rents, you can pretty much find decent rents all over, it just depends on what amenities and how nice of a place you want. I would suggest looking into South Beach and the Brickell area first, if you can't find anything in those areas then we can help you look into other areas. FYI, factor in buying a car, car insurance, etc. if you don't already plan on bringing one with you.

Hmmm... ive lived in Jersey City so hopefully i can help....first and foremost are you looking for that urban life style in which case i would recommend some where near brickell or the beach.. or if you dont mind a commute you can try somewhere in west miami / fountainblue it would only be a 10-15min commute to downtown /beaches

try fountainblue.. could get a nice 2bed/2bath condo for around 250k i think well last i heard anyway.... BUT you can also get the same on brickell for about 400k... if you just plan on renting i believe its around 1k - 2k a month

No, you don't want to live in the burbs of Miami when you're twenty something, you want to live on South Beach or Brickell. That's where the fun is. It's just as safe in the glitzy urban areas as any Miami burbs are, plus then you can be neighbors with the Kardashians, Brooke Hogan, the Bad Girls, the Jersey Shore etc etc.

Say hi to Snookie for me.

Ditto. You're going to want to meet a bunch of young people and be in a vibrant area. Unless you enroll in classes at FIU or UM and meet friends that way, I would not recommend Fountainbleau, Doral, Kendall, West Miami, and other quiet suburban areas. The absolute best place to live for two girls in your situation would be Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, or Brickell/Downtown. You can keep your cars in any of those places. Parking is about $100/month in the highrises in the densest areas of town, but most apartments come with a parking space included in the rent.
