Moving to Aventura in 2 weeks, how long is the average commute from there to Miami? Also what times are the worst for traffic down there? Are there any alternate routes that might save time? Any response is much appreciated.

Just like most major cities traffic towards DT in the mourning is bad. And vice versa in the afternoon.Try to stay off I-95 as much as possible. Biscayne Blvd would be your best bet stop n go but so will I-95 at that time a day. But then again Dade county is one big graph sheet so you can improvise if you find an ave. thats quicker and less congested.

Also remember they are doing road work on Biscayne from I think 70th or whatever that is on down (basically the MiMo district) so its going to be touch and go once they hit that stretch.

I've lived in Aventura a year and a half now, and take one of three routes:
Miami Gardens direct to I-95
US1 to NE135ST then west to I-95
US1 to West Dixie @163rd, West Dixie to NE 135th, then west to I-95.

During rush hour, the later two routes are usually better IMO (if not using the express lanes). Otherwise, the ramp signaling and congestion at the Golden Glades will really slow you down. Without traffic, the difference in my commute going direct to I-95 vs. the two alternates is 5 minutes, mainly because US1 and West Dixie are diagonal routes and you travel less overall distance. Do NOT try US1 directly to downtown after ~8 am or US1 out of downtown after ~4pm. In the afternoon sometimes there is congestion between Golden Glades and the County Line, when I know this is the case (Google Maps traffic feature, radio) I get off at 135th and get to US1 or West Dixie. If I-95 N is a complete disaster in the afternoon, I get to Miami Ave. as an alternate.

My rush hour commute to/from Virginia Key is 35-50 minutes vs. 30-35 without traffic. Worse case it takes an hour.
