Neither team would want to play those games outside the beginning of the season due to their own conference schedules. Besides, it's not exactly Miami weather in Tuscaloosa, Lexington, Nashville, etc during that time of year.

If you are getting in to college football for the first time, don't get behind UM. They are a thugish private school in Coral Gables and the only reason 99% of the non-student, non-alumni fans root for them is because they have the word "Miami" in their name. Root for FIU or FAU instead if you want to support a South Florida team. Sure, they are not as good but they are younger teams. Also, as if one needed another reason to hate UM, the reason FIU wasn't allowed to have a football team for most of the past 20+ years is because of an agreement they had to reach with UM in order for Um to drop their opposition to FIU being founded. UM didn't want another school recruiting in their backyard.
That's funny. Miami doesn't have the courage to play tough OOC games? We just finished a home and home with Oklahoma and had the first game of a home and home with Ohio State. This is what we have coming up:

2011 - Ohio State
2012 - Notre Dame
2013 - UF
2014 - Nebraska
2015 - Nebraska
2016 - Notre Dame
2017 - Notre Dame

Miami is not scared to play UF. Its the other way around. UF dropped Miami in the 80s and tried to drop FSU. The only reason they still play FSU is because the Governer at the time was a FSU backer and told UF they must play them. When scheduling this last set of games, UF requested to play in Gainesville first and wanted to play in Tampa for the second game in 2013. That is called being scared.

Miami is not a thuggish private school. Its actually rated higher than UF in the academic rankings.

This claim has never made sense to me. Miami had beaten UF more often than not in the 80s (game was dropped after 1987), but that was by no means the first time a similar streak happened. More like UF is greedy and wanted their 6 home games a year (now 7 with the 12 game schedule).
