Here's a kind of cool website I discovered about a week ago:

Zillow - Real Estate Valuations, Homes for Sale, Free Real Estate Information

It appears to still be in "beta" so there are several flaws I've seen like missing addresses and incorrect map placement of addresses, but overall its intriguing.

My 2 fav features:

- Heat Map (shows price/sq ft in colors ranging from dark blue to dark red)
- Zestimate Graphs (allows you to compare price history of home/city/county/etc)

Enjoy!

Actually Zillow went live in 2004. Interestingly enough, it was this forum that introduced many of us to Zillow. The website isn't gospel but certainly provides some excellent info - thanks again for bringing it to our attention.

I am surprised at how close most homes are selling relative to their "zestimate."I found that site I think about a year back from Yahoo. A pretty good source.

Oh, my bad. I'd never heard of it before. 2004, you say? I wonder why it's still in beta. With all the flaws I assumed it was a bit newer. Yikes!

I've been using it for the past few years too. Most realtors will tell you not to use them for actual pricing though.

I think for some homes they're a bit high and some a bit low. But I guess that's why its a "zestimate". I'm guessing they are reactive to the market prices rather than proactive.

I looked up my houses and the Pines zestimate is about $20,000 under true appraisal value and the Melbourne house is about $30,000 under true appraisal value. So I agree it must be a very wide skew. The heat maps are kinda cool. It's weird to see how pockets of $$$ homes live inside of $$ homes.

How accurate is this site? I found a house in Weston, listed for 810k, the last sale on it is on 2/17/07 for 530k and the zestimate is 596,500.
Nandina Dr Weston FL 33327
6 beds, 4.0 baths, 3,520 sq ft

Is this way underestimated???????????????
