I think all the Latin American Cafeterias closed. I know that the one in Hialeah (W. 68th St./N.W. 122nd St.) has closed. I don't know what happened. There's a Latin Cafeteria on Biscayne Blvd. @ NE 25th St. which has the sandwiches you're looking for, and they have some nice outdoor seating, too. Buen provecho!

Wow, Latin American was incredible. They were the Cuban Sandwich masters! I have not been down to Dade in a while, I cant believe they closed with their reputation!

Well, it's obvious the owners must've come across a spot of trouble somehow, somewhere...

There's a Latin Grill or something like that on Pines Blvd. just west of Flamingo, if you're near that area. It's pretty good. I've been there a few times.

Latin American Grill. Pretty big chain,I actually have one walking distance from me in Weston. It's ok, not as incredible as their sandwich. The one in Pembroke Pines is actually where I had my first cuban sandwich.

The Weston one also did miserably on their health inspection .

There is a great little place in Pinecrest in Dade called Ruben's Cuban. Absolutely great food, little hole-in-the-wall place. Ruben works the counter just about every day.

If you happen to be in Broward county, you should check out Padrino's Restaurant in Plantation. They're located just south of Broward Mall in The Fountain Shops. Excellent Cuban food! I'm Cuban and I'm very picky in what I eat. If the food is too salty, forget it. If it's too greasy, forget it. Anyway, they have excellent food. Also, excellent flan and bread pudding. Yum! We've gone to the one in West Boca Raton, but their service isn't as good as the one in Plantation. I definitely recommend Padrino's in Plantation.

The food at La Carreta is revolting. I ate there one time and that was enough for me.

I like Padrinos, but I always thought of Padrinos as being "gringo" Cuban food. Ha! I guess I am wrong?

No, it's not. It's the real deal. I was born in Cuba and have eaten Cuban food prepared by cooks from different regions. Even my mom approves of their food. My husband is a gringo and loves their food. Unfortunately, I can't cook Cuban food, which is a major disappointment to his friends. So, when we need to get our fix, we go to Padrino's. The first time my husband ate black beans, he asked if it was gravy.
