I'm relocating to Miami the first week in January. I'm a 36 year old single male and based on my research the Brickell area appears to be the best area to possibly meet new people. I'm relocating by myself so I'm looking for an area that is walkable with the best possibility of meeting people. Would everyone agree Brickell would be the best choice? Also, my job is in Miami Lakes. Any thoughts on how difficult of a commute this would be? For the most part would I be going in the opposite direction of traffic? Thanks for your input.

Default Did you find anything out?

Where did you settle? I will also be relocating to Miami Lakes (from the West Coast) and I am curious as to the commute patterns and where to live as a single man. Thanks.

There should not be as much traffic since, as you said, most people commute the opposite way from you - towards the city in the morning, back to the suburbs in the evening. Still, it seems like a pretty long commute. It might take you 15-20 minutes back and forth. And you're going to need a car, I'm sure it's possible to eventually make it over to Miami Lakes using the bus system, but unless you're a masochist I wouldn't recommend it.

I'd say it would take you at least 30 minutes.

When I first started working here in Brickell, I lived with my parents in Miami Lakes. My hours were 11 AM - 8PM so I never encountered traffic. It took me about 30 minutes all highway at about an average of 65mph.

So you do the math depending on your style of driving.

I'd also like to add that Miami Lakes is a very nice area. Dunno about it being good for a single person though.
