Don't forget the Teal!!! I've always dug businesses that have spinning signs. You just don't see a lot of that anymore. Another thing I value in Miami are the Banyan Trees. There's been a considerable whitefly infestation in Coral Gables and I've heard(though I hope it's wrong) that the future of the Banyans is uncertain.

the banyans are doomed if they ban imidacloprid which is one of those systemic pesticides causing colony collapse disorder in bee populations. without systemic pesticides huge amounts of vegetation will get wiped out. these chemicals are like last ditch efforts against the growing number of pests down here. think of them like the last line of antibiotics before you have nothing to use against a disease.

A favorite of mine is the restaurant with the gigantic rooster statue outside. I forget where it is and the name of the restaurant. When I first moved here, a friend drove me around to show me Miami and surrounding areas, get me familiar with things.

We stopped at that restaurant. The food was pretty good as I recall but the rooster cracked me up.

I didn't know about roosters and chickens in this city and Key West and how they are EVERYwhere! Now the statue makes some sense to me.

Yes the Serpentarium is now the Southpark Shopping Center. I used to work there not knowing the history of the site for years!

Natural predators, not chemicals, will be the answer to controling pests such as the whitefly infestations. We should not be using poisons to control pests. Imho

I like the Hispanic influence and hope it stays in Miami as it has brought a zeal to this city.
