Is there one bus, no transfers, that would go from Miami Intl. Airport to (near) East Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale? I thought I had worked it out before, but now I can't find the schedule I had. Your help is appreciated.

No, not that I'm aware of. Not many buses cross county lines.

You'd either have to transfer buses, or the easiest way, take the Tri-Rail Miami Aiport shuttle (free) which now brings you to Hialeah since the aiport station is closed for construction, get on Tri-Rail at Hialeah Marketplace and ride it up to the Ft. Lauderdale station. It drops you right at I-95 and Broward Blvd. Las Olas is a short walk from the station, about 1.5 miles. You can also catch the 22 bus from Tri-Rail which will bring you to the Broward Central terminal, i.e.- right at the doorstep of Las Olas.

DO NOT attempt to walk this. It's more like 2.5-3 miles, and no way Broward Blvd. crossing over I-95 is safe for pedestrians!

What are you talking about? It's not even 2 miles and there's sidewalks the entire way.

If they're coming with 10 bags, they might not want to walk it, but if it's just them, or them and a rolling suitcase, it's a piece of cake.

Many moons ago, MDTA ran an express bus that went from Downtown/Courthouse to Stranahan Park in Fort Lauderdale. It would be unthinkable now with all the traffic on 95.

Google Maps:
2 miles would get you to the new Las Olas Riverfront area where the clubs and theater are. EAST Las Olas would be a half mile to a mile on top of that, depending on which cross street. While there are sidewalks, crossing the numerous on/off ramps to I-95 would not be fun. Ideally there should be a pedestrian overpass from the tri-rail over I-95, then it'd be a lot easier; but remember, tri-rail was designed to be driven to, not walked to.

So if you were not going to rent a car, and you didn't want to take a cab the whole way, is the Tri-Rail the cheapest, most efficient way to get from the airport or South Beach to Fort Lauderdale?

Thumbs up I hope this can help...

I use regularly public transit in South Florida. Unfortunately there is no bus from Miami International Airport to Las Olas Blvd. However, Miami-Dade Transit and Broward Transit as well have the 95 Express bus service departing from Downtown Miami to Broward County area via I-95.

You would want to consult Miami-Dade Transit and Broward Transit websites to check which schedule and departure point is the most convenient for you if any.

In addition, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, which operates Tri-Rail service, has shuttles from some of its stations specifically for Tri-Rail passengers. So another option would be to consult with them if there is a shuttle bus convenient for you.

Maybe your Google is broken because mine doesn't say it's that far.
