Hi Everyone,

We are making a short visit in June for a good friends wedding.. and we only we have one day of leisure time and plan to spend it ALL DAY at the beach!

We will have our dog, and we do plan to spend the entire day on the beach SO we need a beach that is dog friendly, and has close by resturaunts.(walking distance, preferably on the beach) Also, hoping the resturaunts will have an outdoor eating option where our pup can hang out w us, or just in general be a pet friendly place

We are staying in Pembrooke Pines... HOWEVER, we are willing to drive hour or two so we can enjoy our experience.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The only place I know that you can take your dog to the beach requires you to go to the Rickenbacker Causeway. It's a huge bridge and there are two places to stop.

You can go through the toll, and take your first right after the toll.

You can cross the bridge and just before you hit the aquarium, take a right.

I'm not sure where else in the area to take dogs to the beach. It all depends if the lifeguards are on duty. If they are not, you'll see dogs on the beach. If they are, the lifeguards will come tell you to remove the dog from the beach because they are "filthy". I guess they haven't seen some of the people who visit the beach. My dogs are cleaner than some of those people. But whatevs.

I really don't know of any other places-hopefully someone else knows.

As for restaurants...don't know of any. Would be good to find out.

Rickenbacker is the only one I know of in Miami-Dade. It really isn't a beach with all the rocks that are there. I know they were doing a test a year back on a beach some place on Miami Beach I think it was to see if they should allow the dogs on the beach. Not sure what they decided to do and where it was. Black Point Marina in Homestead has a jetty that the dogs can go out and run around. But it isn't a beach, its a rocky jetty.

South Beach and Coconut Grove restaurants are pretty dog friendly, you just have to eat outside. Some places will even bring a water bowl out for your pet.

Black Point is not in Homestead - closer to Cutler Bay. Is the restaurant at Black Point (outdoors) dog friendly? Once again, Scotty's Landing is dog friendly - in the Coconut Grove area - right near the water. (Biscayne Bay)

doggiebus...the first right after the toll on the Rickenbacker is rocky. But, if you go across the bridge and go right just before the aquarium, it's not and they can actually run out quite a ways because of sand bars.

The first one is painful on the feet...unless you have some of those water shoes...when teaching a dog to swim for the first time. Like I learned. The hard way. Before I knew about the second right.

Hope the hoodlums appreciated it.

^^^Never knew about that spot, I always assumed the whole area was rocky.

Try the beach at Jupiter. Dania beach is often said to allow dogs but that's not true.
