Actually most of what you write I agree with.

HOWEVER...

I disagree with you that Little Havana is a rat hole.
You said that once.
I am in that neighborhood all the time, and I love it.
For me it is far from being a rat hole.
I concur with you as there have been many improvements and I find it to be an interesting and colorful neighborhood

Little Havana IS a rat hole. Ever since the majority of Cubans left it's been filled with Central Americans who do nothing but downgrade the area even more!

and please Mods...don't accuse me of racism because IT'S THE TRUTH! .

Because they only thing they know about those states is what the see in American movies.

For most Europeans, Tennessee, Alabama, etc, are KKK infested places where blacks are lynched under the benevolent protection of a fat sheriff, and overly fat women play banjo while they drink moonshine.

Arizona, etc, are states where people hunt Mexicans with large guns, etc, etc.

Blame the media.

Etc, etc.

I lived in Little Havanna some 32 years ago, it was a nice place. The only place in Miami where you could walk. Safe area. Mariel did some harm, but the area recovered.

As David Hannum said "There is a sucker born every minute". Miami is a hoax perpetrated by years of tourist propaganda and popular entertainment. The fact is that it was built with dirty money like NYC, Vegas, and the like and has no real reason to exist besides agriculture, ocean transport and beaches.

The "south" is redneck in places but in my experience more appealing than the monotony of overdevelopment from Homestead to Boca.

Wow, this thread is like one of those Battle Royals on the WWF where you have 25 wrestlers in the ring duking it out! OK, my two cents:

1. Miami is a major Tourist destination city. It is one of the world's best beach resorts - it's utterly gorgeous. Add the fact it is in the USA with all the associated safeguards and amenities, well what's not to love - for a vacation.

2. Tennessee, Arizona, Kansas what are simply NOT tourist destination. Someone from overseas would no sooner choose one of these places over Miami than an American would pass up Rio for Fortaleza or pass up Paris for Orleans.
