We are basically NY transplant moving to Florida. We are thinking southeast Florida.

We love good restaurants, being able to walk to stores, close to beach, dog friendly.

We are also pretty conservative in terms of economics. We donate to our favorite charities but we don't like government deciding where our dollars are spent.

I like to shoot trap and other sports so I would like an area with a good fishing and hunting club.

Must be within 45 min of Miami...gasp. (my wife demands shopping...LOL).

Thanks,
J
Man's biggest fear, a woman with an unlimited credit card going on on a shopping binge. :ma d:

I forgot to mention that we will be buying a house within a year or so. We want something on a canal/bay/ICWW, close to ocean access.

The reason she wants to shop in Miami is that there is a Christian Louboutin boutique there. She has a serious shoe problem. This comes as I no surprise as she is of Filipino descent.

As long as the husband has good fishing and shooting and the wife has shoes and fashion, life goes on happily.

I hope you are being sarcastic. Of course it is a blanket statement, but I have seen some of the worst shoe obsessions among Filipinas.

I actually wasn't being sarcastic. My post was in relation to my ignorance regarding the shoe obsession rates amongst Filipinos.

filipinas are massively into shoes. I discovered this last year in the Philippines. many of them grew up without them so the luxury of shoes is taken to a fetish level.

Honestly it is a bit farther than 45 minutes but I recommend Naples on the west coast of Florida. Make the Bal Harbor and Ocean Drive Or Aventura shopping trips day adventures like people who live in the NYC suburbs.
