I think I remember this place, I believe there were camel structures out in front of the motel, as I use to stay at the Ocean Roc motel, which has been replaced by a huge condominium.

The Castaways closed in 1981. A lot of the other old hotels further up Sunny Isles have been demolished in the last 5 to 10 years. I'm not sure if any are left from that era.

Thats a shame that the old original building is torn down... In 2000 we lived in Aventura, going north toward Sunny Isles Beach there were many cool, old 1950's style hotels...Did they tear down the old "Rascal's" and other buildings there? sad.
