To blame the attrition rate on individual preferences is ignoring the common theme held by those who leave.

It reminds me of that old joke about a guy that goes to the doctor complaining about an orange Penis. When the doctor asks what the guy has been doing, the patient says, "Watching porn and eating Cheetos".

Miami's exodus is all cause and effect, and until the cause changes, the effects will remain the same.

Last time I checked Garth Brooks sold more than a few records.

The only thong this thread is showing is your own prejuidice, not only against Latino but against country music listeners. People like you would never be happy anywhere because you will always walk around with your negativity and "fuchi" attitude(higher than thou) Something brought you here in the first plac and I don't think the Cubans went to your local towns recruiting people to move here. You didn't do your reasearch and people are different than you? YOUR problem. Grow up people and stop acting like little girls whining about things you CAN'T change.
I'm responding to someone who said American culture is a country music, rodeos and fairs. That is not American culture. A lot of R&B and rap make it to the top 40 and sell millions as well...is THAT American culture?

I have been happy in other places, Princess. I also embraced, yes, dear, embraced the idea of different cultures here. What I did not expect was the arrogance and obnoxiousness from some of those people in those cultures to demand that I pretend I no longer live in America.

I came here because we had relatives who lived in W. Palm Beach. We visited them, stayed here for awhile and it was beautiful, albeit very hot. The people were nice. The people were friendly.

Oops, that was back in the 80s.

Something has happened to the people since then because they are NOT the same as they were. It went from nice and friendly with a rude person being rare to rude and vile with a nice person being rare in 20 years.

So, yes, things CAN change and it is possible to change them for the better. I refuse to accept the defeatist attitude of, "Oh well, you can't change it."

You can. But as long as you sit back and just accept, "Miami is rude, that's the way it is", you're right, it won't change. But that's a lazy attitude to have.

with the way the economy is going, with the way unemployment rates in miami are worse than detroit with no fix in sight because there are no large employers. with the way the realestate market is collapsing here. we are just 1 hurricane away from complete ruin. i'm seeing almost $4/gal for regular in homestead. thats gotta kill people here. i mean these people can barely afford things ALREADY. i wish i could look into the future and see what is going to happen.

If you judged me by the music I prefer, you probably wouldn't guess Texas.

Yes R&B is also American culture. So is country, Hip Hop, line Dancing, rock and even "Bachata". America is not just pop music. Look at the Billboard charts. This is a huge country and it's complete BS to say that everyone listen to the same. Just drive a few miles West and you will hear the difference on the radio stations

America is not want you want it to be, America is what it is. Black, white, poor, middle class, whatever.

All cities change in a span of 20 years. I know that because that's exactly how long I've been living here and have seen the differences in Miami, NYC and my native city in South America. You can't control the changes, all you can do is move to wherever you feel more comfortable. Be realistic, you can barely change yourself what makes you think you can change a whole city with millions of people?

You might think you have all the right answers and that your culture is superior to whatever we have here, but in my experience most cultures from the American continent have their defects and virtues. What you think it's American is far from perfect. There are days that are rather put up with loud Cubans that white Americans whining and being sarcastic. To you the sarcasm and whining is normal, to many if us is quite annoying and unbearable.

Well, then get out! See? How does that feel?

That's the response "we" get when people say we don't like to be honked at for no damn reason at all.

Nobody said here we're a superior race, all we are saying is that we don't understand why people come to a polite place and change it to impolite. If you liked the way your life was back in Columbia, why come here? If you hated it and came here, why did you change it to be like the place you hated and left?

People don't have a problem with the number of hispanics here, it's the number of Hispanics here that act like fools. I'm not racially a racist, but definitely behavioral racists and we don't care what nationality you are.

The attacks are not on color but behavior.

That's right and a a time the city needs all the feet in the city it can muster.

It doesn't bode well for Miami's future and like you said, one hurricane can wipe out what's left.

I have based my knowledge on real life, living amongst Black-Americans for 10 years.

Notice how i said NOT ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE THIS BUT A PORTION OF THEM ARE INCLUDING THE YOUNG ONES.

I understand you're in denial but oh well .

Hey!! Where's Mandolin in this thread? It's unfair to take our wrath out on just Princess

It's not directly her fault this place is such a hole, and even if we don't agree with her viewpoint, we have to give her credit for being such a staunch Miami defender.
