Well my TV, which is wireless-enabled as well, is right next to the router. Would that cause any interference? I do have the occasional 'dropped connection'. But I think my modem may be the culprit.

When I was using the direct hook up with the Ethernet cable, I had to reset my connection because I kept getting that "The default gateway is not available" error message. Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

If anyone is using Comcast and has their Scientific Atlanta modem, I suggest buying your own modem. I pay for 12 mbps and was getting around 10. I switched to a Motorola Surfboard and am now getting 20+ mbps. My son put in a Cisco E3000 router too. The Netgear we had was terrible. We never ever have to reset this router.
When I had ATT we paid for 1.5 mbps - couldn't get anything better because we have fiber optic here in my neighborhood and they said that's the best they could do. Actual speed was less than 1 mbps! Had no choice but to switch to Comcast. My son has ATT Uverse in his place and he gets around 12mbps I think, but he has to use their modem/router combo which he says is garbage. You have no choice apparently.

You can choose servers all over the world. But I would still get the F for Miami Beach.

How is it, with this speed test, that it shows my ISP as Bellsouth?

I use Hughes Net satellite for internet. I don't even have a phone line.

Maybe they are piggybacking off one of their servers?

The server is in Maryland. When I see my own IP on a web page stat counter of mine, it always shows Germantown, MD.

This is confusing.
