Most people would say that West Kendall starts at the Turnpike. Some people would even say SW 117th Avenue. I have always considered Chilis/Sports Authority/etc. right off of the Turnpike at Kendall Drive as West Kendall. Far west Kendall has become very heavily Hispanic over the years, as have pretty much all areas west of the Turnpike and north of Sunset Drive. As recently as 15 years ago, some of those areas were half non-Hispanic white. Unlike areas to the east of the Turnpike which became more Cuban/Cuban-American, areas west of the Turnpike in Kendall became a lot more South American and Central American. The older areas like The Crossings and Calusa Country Club are where the most Anglos/non-Latin Jews and long-time Cubans/Cuban-Americans can be found. The newest developments / gated communities are the most immigrant-heavy, and that surprises a lot of people who are visiting from out of town.

Yeah, I was reading the history of West Kendall and it said that it was very Noreastern jewish in the 70's.

El Rey Jesus used to be a synagogue, for example.

It was and most have moved East or left Miami all together, as you will not find many synagogues left in Kendall because the people aren't there anymore.

I read most of them are deceased due to natural causes. The 70's were too long ago, and most of them were already old.

I really couldn't care less. I speak both English and Spanish and I'm currently learning Swedish thanks to Rosetta Stone. I am glad that Miami is a truly bilingual city. Despite the **** drivers suck, I love hearing different languages every day. Canada has Montreal, we have Miami. Everyone should aim to learn at least one additional language, whether it's Spanish, French or Portuguese.
