But at least the biscayne bay is cool.

Denver!!!! Miami is not the ideal place to raise children... Miami is a lot more expensive than Denver and they pay less here. If I had the chance to avoid this area I would not think twice. Denver has beautiful mountains, here is just a flat wrap... You haven't told us what do you do for a living and if you have a job lined up... You need at least 100k to survive in this place if you want to live in a decent area and not in the ghetto or an area where nobody speaks English. People and drivers here are the rudest, no respect, no morals and no manners in this place. It's a 3rd world mentality city and some places loo like Jamaica. Stick to Denver, there're more opportunities, better environment, four season weather, more thing to do with kids and nicer people. Please don't move to Miami, you'll regret it after the honeymoon is over.

Oh, did I mention the dead-looking sticks for trees and the dry straw that you get to look at for 3/4ths of the year? Or how about the fact that with the constant snows and thaws it turns into a big mud patty that makes the lawns and fields look like a cattle stockade after they get walked on? Yeah, fun times! Hey, and for some REAL entertainment why not visit Longmont, the meth capital of the western united states! Which kind of music do you like? Country or Western? They got both kinds there! Yippee!!!!

Seriously? A choice between Denver and Miami? Are you kidding me? What would ever make you think "Denver". Miami hands down! And no you don't need $100-freakin'-K to be happy in Miami!!!! People who call Miami a 3rd world country have NEVER BEEN to a 3rd world country! Miami is the most exotic place you can live without a passport!

Denver? You are a funny. What a DUMP!

I'd MUCH rather live in MANY so called "3rd World" cities BEFORE I'd even consider Denver.

To name just a few: Cartagena, Barranqilla, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Cuzco, etc.

You think Denver is good b/c it has mountians? That is a joke. Many, many BETTER cities with mountains and beaches like Rio or Honolulu. I feel sorry for your narrow mind.

When Miami Haters talk about Family-Friendly places, they are talking about those type families you see in Doris Day movies. Boca is not good for families, boring as hell, not young people and everything is centered around a particular religious group.

Miami is OK if you select the right neighborhood, not a boring and inanimate place but you can also live in American suburbia there, everything depends on your budget, etc.

Miami is more like dysfunctional family friendly.

I agree with Cixell, the prevailing attitude in Miami among youth who go to public schools is emulation of the hood and ghetto lifestyle, even if they live in suburban Kendall or Hiealeah (non-ghetto areas). Kids who are basically imitating what they see on TV or online and think that is how the world is...or at least how they view it. This is evident if you ever go to a mall or movie theater on a weekend evening.

I am not addressing clothing or slang, it's more of an issue of unfocused anger at the world and a defiance and resentment to societal norms and respect of individuals. I know, I know some people on here will jump all over me and say kids are like this everywhere, but not to the degree they are here.

That doesn't mean your children will turn to that, I think it has more to do with totally uninvolved parents who are detached from their native culture, the US culture and the local community. Unfortunately, there are more people like this than there are middle class and educated in Miami...so being outnumbered by this kind of population is why I vote NO, Miami and South Florida is not family friendly.

You find those kids everywhere, Chavs in England, Killos in Spain, etc. Nothing to do with class or money. You find Wiggers in the richest neighborhoods in the US.
