My husband is thinking of taking a job in Miami. We would be moving our family (me, him, and our 2 girls ages 1 and 3) from the north to Miami. I am wondering if you can tell me some of the best areas to look for houses in (price range between 200K and 300K) that aren't in the city but more of a subburb. We aren't looking for an Urban living environment to raise our girls. We also would like to get them in the best school district that we can.

thanks for your help.

Going to be tough to do better than average schools at that price range, unfortunately. I'd look in eastern Kendall as far as neighborhoods go.

Where in Miami is the job? Do you mind commuting. Broward County might be the better fit with that price range.

Best advice, search through this forum for answers to questions probably asked more than a million times, do your homework, and last, the best advice I can give - don't move here until you know EXACTLY what you're getting yourself in to in more ways than one. Look beyond the rose color glasses and the color photographs. Come more than once for a visit to see the areas. Know what you are expecting from a city, a neighborhood, traffic, etc. Know that if your not bilingual you will feel like you are in another country. I can go on and on, but again, do your homework, don't jump in to ANYTHING until you've done so, or you could easily be very unhappy - you can still move here and be very unhappy, but at least it's not due to you jumping in to something you could have avoided.

This is from someone who was born and raised here and lived no where else for just shy of 50yrs - and I finally moved out of state and couldn't be happier I did!!!

Things are DEFINITELY different in Miami!
