I guess my first mistake was relying on the government to aid vets with college. They passed the bill to improve college funding but its not an improvement. They capped the amount spent on Private schools and there is no longer any break pay in between semesters, I now have no rent for this month. Now I need to break my lease, cancel my utilities, sell my stuff, move into a hole in the wall cheap place. I'm such a dumbass.

With that said I need to figure out how I can get a job with ultra-short notice, find a bus route that works (since I don't have a car), and try to juggle all of that while taking 15 credits to be able to receive housing for the next months. Is it possible?

Try to get a job at a convenient store, that way you can study between breaks while at the same time try to rent out a single room. This is what they call a vicious cycle or in your case an ultra-vicious cycle. Sorry to hear you in this situation as it will be tough without a vehicle.

Are there any public or private aid groups that help vets that you could contact? With all the sacrifices our armed forces have had to go through this past decade it really bothers me that our government would do this. What was it that they improved? I hope things work out for you.

How much are you paying in rent right now? I know I wouldn't like it but rooming with someone with all utilities included could work right? I'm kinda in a similar position taking 15 credits, no job. What about loans? Can you get a federal one that you won't have to pay back until you're done with school? Might be enough to pay your semester rent in a house with roommates.

You might try a P2P lending site like Prosper. Personal Loans and Online Investing - Peer to Peer Lending - Prosper

If you could try and borrow say $2500-$3000 to hold you over for the next two months or so, it would at least buy you time to figure out something else.

Hope it all works out.

Miamiz, I'm paying 900, and my housing stipend covered that along with my utilities. And what 9/11 gi-bill is doing now with federal loans, all the money that I apply for is going straight to the school, and they pay the remainder, meaning there will be no refund of excess funds to the student. So even if I did apply for a federal loan, I wouldn't see any of that money.

Congress, isn't going to help. Many have already written them and they think the change is justified. It is what it is, and I fell victim to it. I just have to see if someone will let me stay with them a month or two until my housing kicks back in next month and I find something much cheaper to rent. Ultimately, I just need to move back to where I came from, because I'm not going to make it here at this rate, especially with this change.

I need to find a job that will allow me to study and do homework in between shifts , if I'm going to be able to keep up with my credits.
