Miami is not tropical....it experiences freezing temperatures. It is sub-tropical.

Oh not this again. Why don't you give up your agenda to make Miami sound not tropical. How many freezing days per year do we get? 1 or 2?

Miami has a tropical climate almost all year around except for 2-3 months. If you don't believe that you either haven't visited or are not very bright.

I have lived in Miami-Dade county for 38 years. I am a horticulturist and have worked with 'tropical' plants down here for 38 years. Our 'occasional' freezes serve as a reminder that we are NOT IN THE TROPICS!

The mean temp is the indicator of a tropical climate, not if it ever freezes or not. Which if it is 64 degrees or above for all twelve months of the year (which it is in Miami, you can check that yourself), then that is classified as having a tropical climate.

If you disagree, go debate about it with the people who classified it that way, I sure as heck did not do it, I am just the messenger.

Congratulations. But you are not a weather official and you are isolated from reality if you believe Miami is not tropical. Just because it "freezes" 1 or 2 days a year doesn't make it non-tropical. The weather 9-10 months out of the year makes it tropical, not the 1 or 2 days that are exceptions to the rule.

Lets get back on topic, shall we?

LA and Miami?

which one do u prefer?

I've only been to LA once back in 2005....for a week lol
so I cant really say.
Tho, I do remember "SoCal" being beautiful not necessarily LA proper, rather Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, Redondo Beach, Bev Hills, Calabasas, Pasadena, etc, which is all kind of part of LA I guess, so I dunno.

Miami has less to look out outside the beaches. I mean dont get me wrong, the beaches and water are truly gorgeous in Miami, however if you're just driving along Ives Dairy rd in north miami-dade county west of 95.....it's not exactly anything to write home about.

where as in LA theres canyons, mountains, vistas, crazy beautiful views everywhere, etc. U can literally hike to the top of a mountain and see views of the ocean or city which are breathtaking, only way u get that in miami is if u live in a highrise condo

so it's a toss up. I do like the warm nights in south florida tho, like that general warmth even at night, its like hot still lol where as in LA it gets cool and im not a fan of cool weather really.

I do agree that once you go west of 95, Miami is a huge flat wasteland of ghetto areas and low income housing. There is no reason to drive out that way and it is very dangerous in some areas.

LA has just as many if not more bad areas but has more interesting geographical features. Miami has no interesting geographical features other than the ocean and Biscyane Bay, which are very interesting. But no hills or mountains or valleys.

I do think areas like Coral Gables are beautiful, but outside of that there aren't many inland areas of Miami that are "nice" or worth visiting.
