Do you think if the Florida state legislature were to pass gambling in Miami area if it would be a successful idea? I personally think so, it would bring a lot more money, and jobs, help the economy, and take Miami to the next level, it would be like the Las Vegas,NV on the ocean, like Atlantic City but BETTER. With all the latin flavor all of that it would be a great idea, I am all for it, I hope they do something big like that because Miami is going to keep growing, and more jobs/more money will make all the difference.

I am not a fan of giving all the para-mutual facilities full casinos but I am a fan some large 3billion dollar developments. It will bring money in, not really from the casinos but from all the visitors, the taxes etc.. Both of the potential downtown developments want to build very large convention spaces so that's even better. I think the state and county need to be careful with how they allow these developments like make them pay for improvements around the area, hopefully have the extra taxes fund the two biggest problems in Miami public transit and education. Miami does not want to be Vegas or Atlantic city and it won't. Miami already has a decent foundation and the city is improving.

As long as the government on all levels does not see this as a magic pill to save the economy and uses the extra money for good things such as education, transportation, and high tech sector jobs and getting companies to come to the area. If this is the case which it should be I am all for it.

I know people will say there are a lot of negatives, honestly I don't see any besides for increased traffic. The crime argument is nonsense, the family aspect thing is eve bigger nonsense, the casinos taking people away from other areas of the city may be true to start and it may affect areas which dont do a good job however right now all these places survive and make money without having a casino draw. The casinos will bring in more people not take away the already existing people who want to come to Miami. I think Miami Beach better step up and not be against the casinos because they will only lose from no devleopment, I really wonder about the people running that city.

The casinos would do wonders for Miami and downtown the two planned areas, one will go up (the herald site) getting the other is possible in the world center Miami site are blighted areas which are in desperate need tomre-development.

Better yet, how about making Miami's version of Wall Street instead. A new Miami stock exchange for the serious gambler and insider trader. Remember, casinos do not generate wealth, they are just fancy toll booths.

I agree with you. Miami certainly doesn't want or need to be Vegas or Atlantic City. Those two cities certainly aren't examples to follow. But Miami is more than a casino...so I think it would add more than it would take away. In general, casinos aren't good neighbors, but the are so prevelent...Miami may as well have one vs. Broward or on Krome Ave.

Exactly, It will just bring another aspect to Miami which already attracts tens of millions of visitors. And as you pointed out Miami already has casinos. That is why the family/crime argument is nonsense. I remember reading that Florida is the 4th largest gambling state in the country.

May be your decision is somewhere correct and advantageous for your organized casino. But,I think this casino link is quite risky so its better to go for all slots which is fully safe.
