April is a great time to visit Florida. The weather isn't too chilly or too hot, it is just right actually. Will you be able to go swimming? Depends, I can't go swimming in April the water is stilly chilly for me, but plenty of people do go in the water that time of the year.

I can't swim at that time of year either, still too cold for me, but lots of people do. Are the man o war around then? Maybe in May?

If this is your first visit to Miami you'll probably want to stay in south beach (the southernmost 2 miles or so of Miami Beach). That area has the most things of interest for visitors, like the beach, art deco buildings, clubs, restaurants, interesting shops etc. If you have time and interest you can also visit the Everglades Park, Florida Keys etc.

Weather is great in April. Certainly you'll see many people in the water also.

Definitely south beach then, the southernmost 2 miles or so of Miami Beach. Look for a hotel that is within 3 blocks of the ocean, and south of 24'th Street. You can walk most places, Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road Mall, the beach, South Pointe Park. There is a 25c local bus that circles around south beach. If you have more time you can visit the Everglades, though you will need a car for that, or maybe a guided bus tour. If you want to go to a big shopping mall, then there are shuttle buses to Sawgrass Mills. These are just some suggestions.

you can go to the beach in miami pretty much year round! i was at the beach last week. youll see some people complain about the water temp but thats because theyr spoiled and use to the long summers. but youll be fine our cold fronts are like 2 to 4 days long then its warm again....come on down!
