I am relocating to Miami from St. Louis, MO this July. Definitely a huge change! Really excited but really nervous since this will be my first time moving away. My husband was accepted to nurse anesthesia school at U of M. However, I am seeking to attend Barry University. Is there an area in between anyone can recommend that is safe and our commutes won't be absolutely horrible for either of us or at least one of us?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on the best methods to locate a rental property in the area? Thank you,

Have you looked into Brickell or Miami Beach?

What is your price range and housing requirements? (beds, baths, single family, condo, etc)

Price range and what you want from the area is needed. As long as you live Downtown or North of it traffic wont be bad for either of you. I would reccomend Downtown, Brickell, Miami Beach, Midtown areas.

Thank you for your responses - I think the max we would like to spend is 1500 per month. I will be traveling to Miami for the first time this March to drive around and learn about the various areas and narrow down an area to live in. So far the following areas were recommended: Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Brickell but we were told its really expensive to live in those areas and that it may be hard to find something in our price range. We are looking for a minimum of 2 bedrooms so if someone comes to visit they will have a place to stay. I've been told to avoid Liberty City but Kendall, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles and Aventura are all okay places to live. Super excited but it is a little overwhelming planning a move of this magnitude.
