also clarify what your rental budget is... There are some very nice places to rent just west of 57th Ave between Bird Road and Coral Way... I am not a fan of Kendall because of everything that has been mentioned here... Commutes are tough all day long.

Not anymore... there're many sketchy looking people around this area, especially in the gas stations on sunset and 152 ave... I heard this area is not a really good place to be from many people...

Now you need spanish no matter or what... they don't understand not even the word cheese and they won't make any effort to do it.... don't even bother saying "good afternoon", you'll not get a reply...

We have looked at Cutler Bay and Coral Gables, but I think they will be too far for his commute. Does anyone have any advice for house hunting? We also need a garage. He will be in town for a few days looking at houses with a realtor, but I would love some opinions. Thanks in advance!
There are some good pockets to live in in Kendall. The challenge is the traffic. I live 6 miles from my jobs and sometimes it will take upwards of 45 minutes (especially when it is raining) to get to work. West Kendall has some nicer areas but it is also further out than other mentioned areas. There are some nice older neighborhoods behind Baptist Hospital with large yards and many homes have garages. Kendall is a bustling urban/suburban area. When visiting, be sure to be there during commute times so you can see how the traffic really is.

Yeah, it went downhill a looong time ago. I was just mentioning how it was so different in the 80's there. It makes me sad when I come home on Sunset Drive and pass through that intersection.

It's not that bad anymore though. It used to be more ghetto at one point... that area went through a short dark chapter that only lasted less than decade. 1999 - 2007?
