Yes, the US is made up of the really rich and really poor. Compared to other countries, we are one of the richest, most diverse countries in the world. Some parts of this great country are inhabited by the really, really poor. How many of our fellow Americans go without healthcare because they cannot afford?

There are many cities in the US that are made up of people like the OP describes outside of the obvious wealthy areas. Take a look at Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, etc.

To the poster who felt the need to apologize for calling black people black; really? Is this what it has come to? It is racist to call a black person black? I have two naturalized friends from Africa, both object to black Americans being called AA. One is white and one is black.
Miami is a prosperous city, and the U.S. as a whole is one of the best nations on Earth. the people that dislike Miami are mostly people who is not successful. Even a new police officer makes 50k per year (base salary), any person who puts a decent effort can have a nice standard of living in this city. A better standard of living than most U.S. cities.

Elgato and Alex are just bashing each other...WTF???

GET A ROOM!!

At least have some decent debate that would allow us, readers, to see the different perspectives and facts regarding Miami's current position.

Who the hell cares who's an immigrant or a middle-aged Native American? Stop bragging about it... you are not proving anything with such info.

I agree.

Also, chalk it up to age and priorities.

At 25 I wanted a BMW and a rolex. At 35 I wanted a minivan and a good housekeeper.

To the nay Sayers, my advice is rent a small Apt in Doral or Kendall for 90 days then come back and post what you think about Miami. Again, rent among common people, not the fake super rich immigrant lifestyle you see so often on TV.

Doral has a higher standard of living than 99 percent of U.S. cities.

City of Doral, Florida - Home

People in that area sure have everything, strong companies, great schools, parks, again... your statements are not accurate.

Latinos always like to show off and act like they have something when they don't. This is why you see 3 floor McMansions with elevator installed on a small square grouper lot.

Commonplace alll over west Miami and LA's San Fernando Valley.

White Americans don't have this need to show off like Latinos and the Brothers.
