Seems there are plans to make passenger rail from Miami to Orlando. There is also talk of making a Law campus near the site, with law firms, court of appeals and a law campus. I guess if they can get Miami Dade college or U.M. to co-sign this could be pretty cool.

Passenger rail on fast track downtown

Well I guess you are talking about the site in downtown where they plan to put the station, just near government center. There is already a federal courthouse nearby, and whole bunch of law firMs. As for a actual law school for mdc or um...well a law school doesn't even exist for mdc...as for UM's.....we'll that might work I guess....but I think they are pretty much okay at the main campus.

I think by "legal campus" they mean consolidating many levels of the legal system into one interconnected area, not necessarily an academic campus. So it would be like the health district but for legal matters. There is already the County courthouse and Federal Courthouse in the vicinity, so the idea would be to incorporate other aspects of the legal industry.

I've heard rumours that the UM Law school has considered moving to Brickell, but I don't know how credible this is.

The quote below is from the article.

Quote:
In addition to the county courthouse, state and federal courts sit near the downtown site. The only other thing needed there, Mr. Sarnoff says, is a law school to round out his idea for a legal campus, which would attract more law firms and restaurants and other businesses.
"It would make for a legal community with live-work opportunities" in the neighborhood, he adds.

Well FIU has their brand new campus. UM law has been in the same area for decades if they did get the 3rd District Court of Appeal for Florida down there too I think it would be a great idea for UM to move over there. Plenty of law schools have their law campus away from their main campus. FSU and Georgetown come right to mind. Saint Thomas Law could always be a candidate too as they are in a old area with a struggling undergraduate University but I'm not sure they have the money to do something
Like this, UM probably does.

Move the third DCA over to downtown though, it makes no sense where it is now.

FlyMIA I think UM would be the better fit as UM has done a LOT with the city in terms of research, development etc.
