this 'superbug' that's been on the news is a bacteria that's been around for quite some time.

MRSA is not a superbug, and has been around a long time. It just never got any press. Plain old Staph Aureus is normal flora on our bodies.....yes, it helps us. It's those nasty MRSA staph that creates problems. Vancomycin is a very powerful antibiotic used to treat this infection, possibly Gentamicin, as well. After that......well, there is nothing stronger.
